Five swimmers from City of Milton Keynes Swimming Club travelled to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games Trials and the British Paralympics Swimming international meets recently. The group came to these high-level competitions with excellent training seasons and hard work behind them, though interruptions to training in the weeks and days leading up to the meet meant circumstances were not ideal. Highlights were 16-year-old Charlotte Evans achieving a 0.5 second PB in the 100m backstroke and setting a new county record and 18-year-old Jocelyn Ulyett’s 13th place in the 100m breaststroke. Both girls continue to be consistently placed in the top 20 at this level. Tom Flaherty, 16, Rebecca Marshall (Bath University) and Lucy Chenery, all gained further experience at this level and their performances were above expectations given injury/illness prior to the meet.
